Is Agensi Rumah Tangga Worth Watching? Our Honest Review

This Agensi Rumah Tangga review starts with a simple question: can a workplace comedy about domestic helpers also say something real about money and job insecurity? Directed by Naya Anindita, this Indonesian comedy-drama mostly manages both. It opened on 10 September 2026 and is also listed internationally as Maids to Order.

Agensi Rumah Tangga Review: The Story So Far (No Spoilers)

The Agensi Rumah Tangga plot begins with Katia Amaranto, a young woman who loses her startup job. She still has a home loan to pay, and her mother would rather see her settle into a civil service career. Katia chooses a riskier path and opens a domestic helper agency.

Running the business throws her into the daily lives of the household workers she manages. Each one has habits, worries and quirks of their own. One of her clients is a singer named Kafka, and that connection pulls her into more than business.

The film is adapted from Almira Bastari's novel, with a script by Upi and Ayu Anggraini Putri. It runs 115 minutes and blends laughs with a portrait of the pressures of the Indonesian job market. You can read more about the film on Letterboxd.

What Works in Agensi Rumah Tangga

The biggest strength is the premise. A small agency full of eccentric staff gives the film an easy engine for comedy, and the setup feels grounded in a real problem: people squeezed between loans, family expectations and shaky work.

Critics who have seen it point to that balance. One Indonesian review calls it funny while still taking up the struggles of lower-middle-class society, and rates it 4 out of 5. That mix of humour and social concern is what lifts the film above a standard office sitcom.

• A relatable, money-conscious premise

• A large ensemble that keeps scenes lively

• Social themes that sit alongside the jokes instead of lecturing

If you like comedy movie reviews with a bit of substance, this is the kind of film that fits.

Agensi Rumah Tangga Cast and Performances

The Agensi Rumah Tangga cast is led by Enzy Storia as Katia, who carries the story as a driven, stubborn businesswoman under pressure. Afgan plays Kafka, the singer client whose path crosses hers.

The agency staff give the film its comic colour. Fita Anggriani plays Sashi, Ardit Erwandha plays Banu, Yunita Siregar plays Mila and Unique Priscilla plays Titin. The ensemble approach lets each helper feel like a distinct personality rather than a punchline.

Why the ensemble matters

A film like this lives or dies on its supporting players. Having several memorable workers means the agency feels like a real, noisy workplace, and Katia's problems land harder because she is responsible for all of them.

Where Agensi Rumah Tangga Stumbles

The film has a lot going on. One review notes many subplots, and says that while real social issues are handled with some maturity, a few elements feel forced. With a big ensemble and several personal crises, some threads inevitably get less room than they deserve.

The humour is also uneven. Another critic observes that not every comic bit lands, which is common in comedies built from many small gags. Published reviews are still limited, so expect opinions to shift as more critics weigh in.

Is Agensi Rumah Tangga Worth Watching?

Yes, if you want a light, socially aware comedy-drama, Agensi Rumah Tangga is worth watching. Early audience and critic reactions are positive, with a JustWatch-listed IMDb score of 7.3 and a warm 4 out of 5 from one Indonesian outlet.

It is not flawless. The busy plot and hit-and-miss jokes keep it from being a standout. But the likeable cast, the relatable money worries and Naya Anindita's easy handling of tone make it an enjoyable watch, especially for readers who also browse drama movie reviews.
